Its been a long summer. And I’ve been
too occupied to come up here and write.
You see, Ria was home everyday, which I simply adore, b’cos I get to rub my
nose against her before she wakes and she Always
allows me to climb in the bed when Mom’s not looking. Its simply heaven, to
cuddle up to her. Though of course from time to time I am forced to growl and
snap when she kicks me. Then they have a big argument, with Mom scolding me for
being a bad boy, and Ria for letting me up, and Ria pleading that she didn’t kick me and so on. I think I do
understand at some level that she didn’t mean
to, but I can’t control myself when I get so much as nudged while I am fast
asleep. I feel terrible for minutes after the snap, and of course I do
apologise later. And then it happens again the next day. Thank god for
routines! The lazy days of summer!! I wish they never ended.
Then suddenly a few days ago, Mom and
Ria packed their bags and left with Ganju. I just don’t get it. Why do they
leave me and go? For 6 nights I waited
by the door for the sound of their return. Even my Inner Voice was silent. Then at sunset one
day, I knew they are coming. I couldn’t wait to see them again, and paced from
balcony to door and to balcony again for one glimpse. Thank God for Snookers who came to play with
me once. After what seemed forever, Mom and Ria drove in. G was flabbergasted.
How does Sparky know that you have come into the city? Who tells him? And I
smile contentedly curling up on Ria’s bed in complete bliss. What’s the point
in telling them Humans that we dogs don’t require language. We just know. Its
that simple. Its dog-sense.
Well, on those 6 nights G dragged me
to Baba’s to sleep. Though it was cool
and comfortable, it’s a proof of my wisdom and maturity that I didn’t bite that
Upstart’s nose off during that time. She tried her level best to rile me of
course, jumping on G, taking all her attention, teasing me with the bone, and
making a nuisance of herself. It took my utmost to ignore her. I wish she would
just disappear, the vixen.
Schools have reopened, which means I
get to go down to bark at the bus everyday. Its too much fun, you should try
it! I can barely control myself while going downstairs. I wish I could go to
school also. Mom let me get on the bus once, it felt so good to be among so
many children… but some brat started screaming and the driver never let me on
again. Now I console myself by barking at them with joy!
Finally 2 days ago, the sky opened up
and the earth welcomed the drip drops like a “long lost lover” according to Mom.
It’s a big pain now going for walks, I just hate them drops on my back and
nose, and G can’t understand why I am in such a big hurry to run back home! The
good part about these dripping days is I get to snuggle in my blue felt, and it
doubles as a game too, playing ‘fetch’ and ‘catch’, so its ok I guess. Every
minus has a plus attached.
