I wouldn't wish this on my worst enemy. Not even that little upstart.
I thought it began as a very pleasant day, maybe even an exciting one. Mom told me we were going for a car ride. We haven't had too many car rides since my fave blue went away. This silver one is Okay too, but Mom says she wants to 'protect' the seats for a while, whatever that means. So when she said "Car" my ears perked up. I jumped in joyfully on the backseat and gave her a big lick in appreciation. And to add to the joy was Ganjoo in the other car!! he even parked next to us at the lights and gave me his hand to lick. What fun!!! It was going to be a great day. I would even tolerate that pesky thing if this was how it was going to be. The wind in my face, on my tongue!! AAHHH.
And then we stopped at THE PLACE. I knew as soon as Mom opened the door and the smells came smacking in. Fear. Agony. Trauma. Hurt. Shock. Anger. None were good and I simply refused to get off. 'Lets get going, I say. This is not my Stop!!'
But nobody was listening. I was dragged out unceremoniously. The upstart also came with her tail between her legs. I couldn't be bothered with her when there was so much danger everywhere. My eyes darted left right and all I could see and hear were cries of pain and agony. Pet owners dragging theirs, coaxing some, carrying some, all under protest.
Some forms were filled out. "Name?" barked the attendant. 'Sparky'- said mom. "Not The dog's- Yours", he said. [oh, is mom gonna see the man then, thank God] Then, "Age" he asked . "Whose? mine or my dogs?" asked Mom. "GRIN. The dogs of course, ma'am" he said tongue in cheek. "Sex?"- Mom said 'male' without any further smart comments. And I knew it was my turn to see the man.
I was looking for any sign of escape. There was none. Pulling on my choke chain, tail under my legs, panting, my eyes bulging, I couldn't be comforted no matter how much they tried. Its a WAR ZONE that place. You should go. See how you feel.
The old man didn't even look at me much. No touch, No petting. just wrote something and told Mom stuff. then it was the other room. Oh, I suddenly saw and remembered the steel table that smelt of the utmost fear of hundreds of unfortunate brethren having had to perch there over time. Oh God. Where was He? Ganjoo got me in his grip vice, while that man did something that I barely felt. And put me down. I ran out of that place all the way to the car and gulped down some of the water Mom poured into my mouth. Much petting and cajoling and the drive back home. Whew. What an experience. never again.
